A calavera  is a representation of a human skull. The term is most often applied to decorative or edible skulls made, usually by hand,  from either sugar or clay which are used in the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have passed and help support their spiritual journey. It is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November.
